Dear Friends,
The 7th edition of the Joshua Cheptegei Kids Christmas Run was nothing short of magical. Held in my beautiful hometown of Kapchorwa, Uganda, this year’s run was extra special as we welcomed some of the greatest names in athletics to inspire and encourage the next generation.
It was an absolute honor to host the legendary Eliud Kipchoge, Geoffrey Kamworor and other notable athletes. Their presence brought global attention to our community event and, more importantly, gave the young participants unforgettable memories and a renewed sense of possibility.
About the Christmas Run
The Kids Christmas Run has always been more than just a race—it’s a celebration of community, youth, and hope. This year, children under 16 competed in 2km, 3km, and 5km races, showcasing their talent and determination. Additionally, we organized a 5km walk to raise awareness about gender-based violence, reminding us all of the important role sports can play in addressing societal challenges.
Inspiration from Legends
Having Kipchoge, the two-time Olympic marathon champion, Geoffrey Kamworor and other notable athletes, with us was a dream come true. Their words of wisdom and encouragement to our young runners showed the true spirit of East African unity and the power of perseverance.

Eliud shared his thoughts, saying, “Sport is a universal language that unites us all. Being here in Kapchorwa and running alongside these young athletes is a moment I will always cherish.”
A Shared Vision for the Future
At the Joshua Cheptegei Development Foundation, our mission is to empower young people, nurture talent, and create opportunities for all. This event is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together as a community. With Eliud Kipchoge, Geoffrey Kamworor and other notable athletes by my side, I believe we’ve inspired the next generation to dream big and aim high.
Join the Journey
This Christmas Run is only one step in a much larger journey. Whether it’s through participating, volunteering, or supporting the foundation, you can be part of this incredible movement. Let’s continue to work together to create opportunities for our youth, build stronger communities, and celebrate the greatness within East Africa.
Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and cheered us on. Together, we’re building a brighter future, one step at a time.
With gratitude,
Joshua Cheptegei
